Akoya pearls

Akoya pearls come from the waters surrounding Japan. Because of its beautiful, intense luster, the Akoya pearl belongs to the most desired pearls in the world. The color of the Akoya pearl varies from ivory to champagne and soft shades of pink.

South Sea pearls

South Sea pearls are one of the most exclusive. They are known for their bright white color. The oyster in which this pearl grows (the South Sea pearl oyster) is the largest and rarest. These pearls are very precious. The reason for this is the limited cultivation area (the Chinese South Sea) and the long growingprocess. The oysters that are used for growing South Sea pearls have to be hand dived, because they only grow naturally (they can not be cultivated).s

Tahitian pearls

Tahitian pearls are cultivated in the Black-lip pearl oyster Pinctada Margaritifera. This is done in the Pacific Ocean, in the waters surrounding the island of Tahiti. The Tahitian pearl comes in various colors: Dark grey, peacock green, peacock blue, yellow and blue-purple. The color is defined by the inside of the oystershell. The colors are true and intense eye-catchers.

Freshwater pearls

Freshwater pearls are cultivated in lakes in Japan, Indonesia and China. On freshwater pearls farms, each mussel is opened and surgically implanted with tiny pieces of mantle tissue. The oyster then creates a layer of pearl around the pieces of mantle tissue. This process can take up to 10 months and even 6 years. Freshwater pearls come in a variety of colors like ivory, soft pink, salmon pink and lilac.
